Here are BLDUP's most active* Boston-area new construction multifamily buildings as of June 2020. All of these buildings are either under review, approved, under construction, or recently completed. Each building contains either apartments or condominiums; a number of buildings are mixed-use and contain retail space.

1. Winthrop Center

Downtown Crossing, Boston, MA

Winthrop Center
It's no surprise Winthrop Center is at the top of the list after Millennium Partners filed a Notice of Project Change to cut down the number of residential units once again. This new filing would reduce the number of residences in the mixed-use project from 387 to 321 and these units will now initially be apartments instead of condos. The total building size will go down to 1.447M square feet with the office, and retail/connector space remaining the same.  Learn More >>>

2. 212 Stuart Street

212 Stuart Street is an upcoming 19 story under construction now. The project is set to include 126 apartments, two walk-up townhouses, and around 3,000 square feet of ground-floor retail/restaurant space. 3. Woburn Village

Woburn, MA

Woburn Village is the redevelopment of the 23-acre mall parcel at the intersection of I-95/Route 126 and I-93 in Woburn.  New plans call for updated retail space (around 175,000 square feet), a new movie theatre, and Avalon Woburn apartments. Avalon Woburn will include 350 apartments, a mix of 1, 2, and 3-bedroom layouts, 25% designated affordable at 80% AMI. 4. Cambridgeside Redevelopment

Updated plans are now under review for the redevelopment of Cambridgeside. Plans call for the addition of 575,000 square feet of office, lab, and residential uses. The residential portion of the project would feature around 200 units, with 65% designated affordable.  Learn More>>>

5. 646 Ocean Avenue

646 Ocean Avenue is an approved 7-story mixed-use project along Revere Beach. The building would include 209 residential units along with just over 4,000 square feet of retail space plus parking for 242 cars. 6. Waldo/Durgin Redevelopment

Proposed mixed-use project on the Waldo/Durgin Street site in Coolidge Corner. The project would feature a 210 room hotel with a restaurant/bar, fitness center, and amenity spaces for hotel guests and a 13 story apartment building. The residential building would include 143 apartments (1 & 2 bedrooms) plus a café and co-workspace on the ground floor. 7. 15 Riverdale Avenue

Approved 40B mixed-use project at 15 Riverdale Avenue in Newton. Plans call for two separate buildings with a total of 204 units of rental housing and 4,600 square feet of retail/community space. Fifty-one units will be made affordable to households earning 80% of the area median income. The project would also include a new public courtyard edged by retail and commercial uses. Learn More>>>

8. 50 Cambridgepark Drive

Alewife, Cambridge, MA

The upcoming 8-story mixed-use building at 50 Cambridgepark Drive is just steps from Alewife Station. The building will include 294 apartments plus 6,992 square feet of ground-floor retail space. 9. Bower Boston

Bower Boston, the first phase of the Fenway Center development will feature a total of 312 apartments between 2 buildings. The project also includes 37,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and 200 underground parking spaces. Amenities spaces nestled throughout the building offer room for lounging, entertaining, working, and meditating. The rooftop terrace will feature a pool, sun deck, and amazing views. Learn More>>>

The upcoming 7INK will offer 180 residential co-living units within the 14 story tower. The building will provide a full range of services, unique community engagements, and extraordinary shared amenity spaces.
