Two Manhattan West Update 07/02/21

Brookfield's Latest Tower Rises in Hudson Yards

For the last few years, Brookfield Properties has been hard at work developing Manhattan West; a 6-building, 7-million sqft. complex next to Hudson Yards. At the heart of this mixed-use mini-metropolis will stand a pair of supertall office towers, known respectively as One and Two Manhattan West. One was completed back in 2019, and now the (welder's) torch has been passed over to Two.

Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the 58-story tower will share nearly identical architecture with its sister building, but will top out 61 feet shorter. As near as makes no difference however because Two Manhattan West will have a final height of 935 feet and encompass 1.9 million sqft. of floor space.

Currently in the framework process, general contractor, Tishman Construction, is working quickly to add floors to the rising superstructure. The tower's base, despite it's unfinished appearance is actually quite far along. The ground floor lobby will have a glass facade, extending multiple stories high, and thus filling in the tall, core exposing gap at the base of the building.

Also under construction is the courtyard sandwiched between One and Two. It will act as a central area with restaurants and retail shopping. The eastern portion of the courtyard won't be accessible until the completion of the aforementioned tower, but the western half is now open to the public.
