Cambridge City Council Approves Zoning to Make Way for Cambridgeside Redevelopment
The Cambridge City Council has approved new zoning for the Cambridgeside Mall site that will allow New England Development to add 575,000 square feet to the existing space in buildings up to 155 feet. As part of the zoning change, the redevelopment will require 30% of that new space to be housing, with 65 percent of that housing set aside for middle or lower-income residents. New England Development also pledged $90 million in community benefits as part of the project that will include housing, office/lab space, plus more ground-level open space.
