CambridgeSeven Completes Phase One for OH WOW! Children’s Center
Cambridge-based architecture and exhibit design firm, CambridgeSeven, completed the first phase of work at the OH WOW! Children’s Center in Youngtown, Ohio. Phase one consisted of relocating the museum’s main entrance and designing a new, colorful lobby to greet children and families. A new exhibit, the iSHINE Gallery, was also designed and built for the museum’s grand reopening in May 2021.
This gallery was a collaboration between OH WOW! and House of Shine, a new institution located in Grapevine, Texas. The iSHINE Gallery contains interactive activity boards that encourage children to explore and reflect on their Interests, Strengths, Hobbies, Irritants, Needs, and Experiences. The exhibit encourages children to be aware of and believe in the characteristics that help them feel confident. Three large spinning interactives encourage children to “Be, Do, and Share” with others.
CambridgeSeven teamed with Xibitz, an exhibit fabricator out of Michigan, to deliver this as a design/build effort in a tight 3-month schedule. CambridgeSeven continues to work with OH WOW! on their next phases of design, envisioning new exhibits on multiple levels and an outdoor science park.
