City Offering $1 Billion in Bonds to Fund O'Hare Terminal Redevelopment
Funding efforts have begun by the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) for the massive expansion of O'Hare International, along with a new construction timeline, as costs spike due to inflation. With the new timeline, Satellite Concourse 1 will be built first, followed by the Global Terminal that will replace Terminal 2, to be completed in 2032, and Satellite Concourse 2, to be completed in 2034. Construction of Satellite Concourse 1 is expected to begin in 2025, with crews already beginning to prep the site.
