City Seeks Development Proposals for Austin St. Parking Lots in Charlestown
The City of Boston has issued an RFP for the redevelopment and long-term ground lease of a 5.6-acre site in Charlestown, the Austin Street parking lots. The City expects plans should include a mixed-use development that will bring a mix of housing with an emphasis on affordability to the Charlestown area along with community-driven ground floor activation and open space. Plans should also prioritize uses such as neighborhood services, arts and culture uses, retail, restaurants, athletic uses, and community spaces. Several potential scenarios include 4 to 6 buildings total across the site up to 18 stories.
