Construction To Resume at Evolution Golden Gate Point

The dormant construction site of a luxury condominium development near downtown Sarasota will soon see activity resume.  Construction of Evolution at Golden Gate Point had been halted due to supply chain issues that have been resolved and crews will get back to work soon.

The stoppage was caused by a delay in delivery of the floor-to-ceiling, custom made windows according to Evolution Sales Director Vlado Konatar.  “They are very high-end windows, and they’re all custom, so it’s not like we can go in and say 'Give me some windows off the shelf,'” Konatar said. “That’s why it took so long.”

All the work that could be done before drying the building had been completed and after the hurricane impact, protective-coated, heat-resistant glass has been installed, interior construction will commence.  The windows are expected to be delivered by the end of June and construction should resume in mid-July.

Sales have not been affected by the delay, according to Konatar, 18 of the 20 condos are under contract and the remaining two are pending, including a two-story, 3,500 square foot penthouse with a 3,000 square foot terrace with a private pool.

Further delays are not anticipated and Konatar says all other materials have been purchased and delivered.  “We’ve bought everything, so the building is full of material, and the rest is in storage,” Konatar said. “If we had the windows, we would have been drywalled by now.”

The expectation was to be completed by the end of this year, now it looks like residents will be able to move in by July 2023.
