CPC Reviews 11-Story Highbridge Affordable Housing Proposal

The City Planning Commission (CPC) has now reviewed an application proposing an 11-story, affordable housing project, at 1093-1095 Jerome Avenue in the Highbridge neighborhood of the Bronx. Submitted by the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, on behalf of the non-profit developer, 

, the application is currently navigating the public review process. It requests an Urban Development Action Area Project ("UDAAP") designation and the disposition of city-owned land in order to facilitate the new development.

The building would contain

units, consisting of 43 affordable housing units and 18 Affordable Independent Residences for Seniors (“AIRS”) units. These dwellings would be offered in studio and one to three-bedroom configurations. Tenant amenities are to include recreation spaces, a green roof, a bicycle storage room, and a laundry room.

, the structure would stand feet tall and total square feet.

The project site spans

square feet and is currently occupied by two low-rise apartment buildings. These would have to be demolished if the proposal is approved and the project proceeds.
