475 Bay Street Update 01/20/22

Design Revealed for Staten Island Affordable Housing Project

Renderings have been released for Staten Island's latest affordable housing project. Set for 475 Bay Street in Stapleton, the new depictions offer us a nice first glimpse at the planned, 12-story building.

Developed by , the building's residential component will amass square feet, containing approximately apartment units. These will exclusively be dedicated to affordable housing. The tenant amenities list includes roof decks, dedicated child and senior rooms, a fitness center, a lounge, a movie room, and community support services.

In addition to affordable housing, 475 Bay Street will have square feet of retail space on the ground floor. Designed by , the structure will total around square feet. The project site is located right near Staten Island's Upper Bay waterfront, and construction is expected to cost around $151 million.

The development comes as part of the Bay Street Corridor Neighborhood Plan. Through over $1 billion in public and private investments, the plan aims to connect Staten Island's mixed-use town centers of St. George, Tompkinsville, and Stapleton by creating a new walkable neighborhood. The initiative would create opportunities for housing, businesses, and jobs with easy access to existing public transportation.
