Dev Lands $158M Loan for LIU's 30-Story Fort Greene Tower Project
Developer, , recently secured a $158 million loan for a 30-story, mixed-use tower, going up at 89 DeKalb Avenue in Brooklyn's Fort Greene neighborhood. Issued by Otera Capital, this influx of capital is being used to fund construction costs.
Developed for Long Island University and being constructed on the grounds of the school's Brooklyn campus, the building is set to contain apartment units. Included in this figure will be 98 units dedicated to affordable housing.
Tenant amenities will total over 15,000 square feet and are to include a fitness center, an outdoor terrace, and co-working areas. In addition to the residential portion, plans call for 55,000 square feet of academic and office space for the university, which will serve to expand the campus and help the institution increase its overall capacity. The cutting-edge tower has been sustainably designed and will be all-electric. It will also feature a smart glass facade system and electric vehicle charging stations.
Designed by , with LRC Construction serving as the general contractor, 89 DeKalb Avenue will stand feet tall and total square feet. Construction is expected to finish by December of 2025.
