MassDot Air Rights Parcel 12 Update 04/15/21

Development Progressing over Air Rights Parcel 12

Construction is underway on Parcel 12 as crews build over the Massachusetts Turnpike and excavate small areas on Boylston and Newbury Streets to form the foundation walls on the medians of the turnpike and commuter rail. Simultaneously, work is also underway on relocating the highway's westbound on-ramp.

The first air rights project in Boston in over 30 years, plans call for 657,000 square foot mixed-use development along Boylston Street & Massachusetts Ave over MassDot Air Rights Parcel 12. The project entails one new office building (around 325K square foot), and a second hotel building, a citizenM hotel, (around 150K square feet) rising from a podium base with first and second-story retail and 70,000 SF of restaurant space.
