Excavation Begins on Queens' Tallest Building

General contractor, , and sub-contractor, ECD NY, has begun drilling and excavation work at 42-02 Orchard Street in Long Island City, Queens. The site will eventually be home to a 69-story, foot tall residential tower, which is set to become the tallest building in all of Queens.

Developed by , the tower will contain apartments. Most of these will be sold at market rate, with a select amount of units reserved for affordable housing. Tenant amenities are to include a swimming pool, a fitness center, and multiple lounge areas.

In addition to residential units, the structure will have square feet of ground-floor retail space, and a two-story parking garage.

The project site encompasses an entire block, which is bound by Orchard Street, Jackson Avenue, and Queens Street. Designed by , the development will total square feet.

Construction is currently estimated to take until 2026. As excavation gets underway, demolition contractor, Breeze National, is in the process of leveling 3-separate industrial buildings, where the new development's parking garage will sit.
