Facade Work Finishing Up for Times Square Hotel

At 159 West 48th Street in Times Square, the exterior of the new Hard Rock Hotel has almost fully taken shape. General contractor, Aecom Tishman (Tishman Construction Corp) is nearly finished installing the 37-story tower's facade materials, with the exception of the ground floor, and multi-story main entrance.

This highly anticipated hotel is being developed by Hard Rock International and Extell Development Company. It was designed by SLCE Architects and will boast 446 rooms. The total square footage is roughly 291,000 sqft, and the structure stands 415 feet tall. In addition to hotel rooms, the building will contain two entertainment venues, a rooftop lounge, and a fitness center. There will also be business and meeting space available.

While facade work looks set to complete soon, a large amount of interior work still needs to be done. Construction is expected to finish in 2022. Based on both the reputation of the Hard Rock brand and the tower's central location (less than a block from Times Square), the Hard Rock Hotel is likely to become one of the more popular (and hyped) hotel options in Midtown Manhattan.
