Facade Work Nears Completion for Sleek Brooklyn Tower

One of the most striking buildings you'll notice when driving through Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, is 550 Clinton Avenue. The twisting 29-story tower, designed by Morris Adjmi Architects, has a unique non-symmetrical design that gives you a warped perspective from nearly any viewing angle.

The mixed-use tower, developed by Hope Street Capital, will soon be home to 284 residential units, and around 60,000 sqft of retail space. General Contractor, Triton Construction is currently finishing the facade installation for the main tower.

While the 280,000 square foot development looks to be nearing completion, it's actually far less finished than meets the eye. An astute local may notice that the tower sits on the corner of Atlantic and Vanderbilt despite being called 550 Clinton Avenue. This is because the tower's podium hasn't been fully built yet.

The development sits on a 58,415 sqft piece of land bounded by Clinton, Atlantic, and Vanderbilt Avenues. Once the project is complete, the obscurely shaped, 4-story podium will extend all the way from the tower to a main entrance on Clinton Avenue.

In an age of blandly designed mixed-use developments, 550 Clinton Avenue is a refreshing exception that will add flair to Brooklyn's shifting urban landscape. The project is expected to complete in the summer of 2022.
