Lane brings his more than 25 years of experience to the firm’s leadership

Boston-based Finegold Alexander Architects announced today that Christopher Lane, AIA, MCCPO, has been promoted to Principal, joining the firm’s leadership team. Lane has been an architect with Finegold Alexander for over 25 years and is a critical member on nearly all the firm’s work involving complex preservation and fast track schedules for public, higher education, K-12 and private development clients.

“We are thrilled to have Christopher join the other Principals as we continue to lead the firm to a brighter future,” said Regan Shields Ives, AIA, LEEP AP, Principal and Secretary of Finegold Alexander. “His demonstrated leadership in the critical areas of collegiality, sustaining client relationships, engagement and active service with allied organizations, and his longstanding commitment to Finegold Alexander makes him an excellent addition to our leadership.”

Lane’s expertise is in historic preservation and adaptive reuse, and he has unique knowledge of construction methods and materials used to blend existing and historic building fabrics with new construction elements. His interests also include the forensic portion of projects along with problem solving throughout documentation, production, and the final construct. He has also been designing new and renovated K-12 educational facilities throughout New England, creating inspirational and state-of-the-art spaces for teaching and learning.

“I am proud to be part of the Finegold Alexander leadership, a firm that values historic preservation, sustainability, and innovation,” said Lane. “We are looking forward to continuing to grow our practice areas and create beautiful, functional, sustainable spaces, weaving history with the present and future.”

Lane’s projects have included the Boston Opera House, Harvard Business School Baker Library, the Eliot Innovation School, and the Cable Mills Residences. He is currently involved with numerous on-going projects, including the restoration and preservation work at the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston.

He is on the board of Revolutionary Spaces where he was recently appointed as “Preservation Officer” and sits on the Facilities Committee for the Old South Meetinghouse in Boston. He is also a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Historic Resources Committee of the Boston Society of Architects. Lane earned his Bachelor of Architecture from Wentworth Institute of Technology and has an Associate of Science in Architecture Engineering Technology and Engineering Science.
