Former St. Petersburg Hospital to Be Converted to Affordable Senior Housing

The St. Petersburg Housing Authority is planning to renovate the former Edward White Hospital in St. Petersburg and convert the building into affordable senior housing.  The renovation of the three-story 121,000 square foot building will also include office space for The St. Petersburg Housing Authority, nonprofit organizations, and local businesses. The residential component will entail 70 units, five studio, 60 one-bedroom and five two-bedroom apartments available to seniors living at 60% or below of the Area Median Income (AMI). Last fall, the Ed White development was one of seven affordable housing projects to receive funding from the City of St. Petersburg’s American Rescue Plan (ARPA). The project received $5,938,214 in funds allocated by the St. Petersburg City Council and $3 million in funds from Penny for Pinellas.
