GE unveils adaptive reuse plans for historic pedestrian bridge at Innovation Point


General Electric (GE) has unveiled plans for the adaptive reuse of the four-story historic pedestrian bridge over Necco Court at Innovation Point, GE's upcoming headquarters campus in Fort Point. The bridge will be converted into four lounges and quiet workspaces for GE employees. GE will restore the bridge’s existing green metal wall on the east site of the bridge facing Fort Point. A new glass facade will be installed along the west side of the bridge facing Fort Point Channel and Downtown Boston, providing natural lighting for the lounges and workspaces. By restoring the bridge, GE is preserving Fort Point’s industrial heritage for years to come. The Fort Point Channel Landmark District Commission is now reviewing GE’s plans for the bridge.
