Ground Breaks on Claremont Affordable Building

General contractor, , has broken ground on a 9-story, affordable housing project, at 334 East 176th Street in the Claremont neighborhood of the Bronx.

Developed by , it will be known as "Baez Place", and is set to contain units for individuals living with mental health concerns, seniors with histories of homelessness, and low-income families. These will be offered in various configurations, ranging from studios to three-bedroom setups.

The building will also have 28,993 square feet of community facility space, and several tenant amenities. These include a community room, commercial kitchen, fitness center, laundry room, bike room, library/computer room, lounge areas, an outdoor green space, and a rooftop garden with a greenhouse.

Designed by , Baez Place will stand feet tall and total square feet. The project is expected to cost $86 million, and financing has been provided by a number of state agencies in addition to private funding from Bank of America and Richman Housing Resources.
