Harvard Pushes Back Opening of Science & Engineering Complex to Spring 2021

Originally expected to open this fall, Harvard has now announced the new Science and Engineering Complex will now open in the spring semester of 2021. Dean Frank Doyle of the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences said in a statement, “due to the temporary suspension of construction work by the city of Boston, and our collective response to the coronavirus public health emergency, the SEC will not be ready in time for a summertime move-in and fall opening as previously planned. The good news is that, following a nearly five-year construction process, once construction fully resumes the SEC will be just weeks away from being ready for occupancy.” When complete the $1B project will be the new hub of learning for over 1,800 science and engineering students, researchers, and faculty and will serve as a new iconic gateway to Harvard’s growing Allston campus.
