Suffolk Downs Update 10/27/20

HYM to Include more than 40 Acres of Green Space at Suffolk Downs

Last week's presentation gave insight into public incorporation in the massive Suffolk Downs project. More than 40 acres of open space will be set aside for public use, knitting East Boston and Revere back together and incorporating public transit.

More than $20 million has been set aside for MBTA improvements and incorporation at the site, and $110 million will be spent integrating roadway, bike, and pedestrian networks across two cities.

Attention was also given to the impact of climate change and Suffolk Downs' ability to achieve climate resiliency. More than 1,00 street trees will be planted at the site, and natural flood mitigating plants will be added along low-lying areas.
