John Hancock acquires HarborView at the Navy Yard luxury apartments in Charlestown for $149.25 million

John Hancock Life Insurance Company has acquired HarborView at the Navy Yard, an 11-story building situated on the Charlestown waterfront featuring 224 luxury apartment residences and 29,000 square feet of retail, for $149.25 million in cash. JLL represented seller Prudential Financial in the acquisition. The building is currently managed by Roseland Management Company. Harborview at the Navy Yard was originally intended to be a condominium development, but fell victim to the recession in 2007 around the time of its’ completion. Equity investor Prudential foreclosed on the building from original developer Trammell Crow Residential in Summer 2008. The building features condominium-quality floor plans and finishes including hardwood floors, plush bedroom carpeting, granite counters, stainless steel appliances, marble baths and floor-to-ceiling windows.
