Kearny Transloading Facility Trades for $67.25M

A Class-B industrial building, located at 1100 Newark Turnpike in Kearny, New Jersey, has just been sold for $67.25 million. The structure was acquired by Brookfield Asset Management from the previous owner, CSX Transportation, in a deal brokered by Kassin Sabbagh Realty.

The 10.6-acre property is used as a transloading facility for transferring freight between trucks and railcars.

Originally constructed in 1973, the single-story structure was purpose-built and totals 58,500 square feet. It features 13 railcar doors on one side and 55 loading dock doors for tractor-trailers on the other.

The building underwent a significant renovation in 2020, which replaced the roof and siding materials, repaved the parking lot, and demolished an auxiliary structure (pictured below, left), previously used by CSX as a maintenance garage.
