Congress Theater Update 12/10/24

Landmarks Approves Class L for Historic Theater

The Commission on Chicago Landmarks has approved a Class L tax incentive for the Congress Theater, supporting the $88 million restoration of the historic 1926 venue in Logan Square. The plans include a full renovation and historic restoration, transforming the theater into a 4,900-seat music venue, with 16 residential apartments and a 30-room boutique hotel. The project will also revitalize 13,000 square feet of ground-floor storefronts and 23,000 square feet of commercial space. All mechanical systems, including electrical, plumbing, and ventilation, will be replaced, along with the roof and new windows.
