Stevenson Commons Expansion Update 09/27/21

Large Expansion Proposed for Bronx Affordable Complex

A major expansion has been proposed for Stevenson Commons, an affordable housing complex in the Soundview neighborhood of The Bronx. The existing complex currently consists of 9-residential buildings containing a total of 943,188 square feet and 948 affordable rental units. Developer, Camber Property Group is seeking to construct 6 additional buildings on the property. These will add 704,000 square feet and 735 units, for a total of 1.65 million square feet, and 1,683 affordable housing units.

The new buildings are being designed by WXY Architecture + Urban Design and will come in various sizes. Building B2 will be the tallest at 14 stories, and 138 feet tall. If approved, construction will be carried out in three phases. Phase 1 would see the completion of buildings B4, B5, and B6, while phase 2 would include B3, and phase 3 would conclude the expansion with B1 and B2. If everything goes to plan, all buildings should be built and operational by 2028.
