MassDOT Releases Request for Bids for Downtown Gateway Parcel
MassDOT has released a request for bids for parcel 25 in the Chinatown section of Downtown Boston. The 1.3 parcel, part of the larger Gateway Boston area, includes 24,600 SF of air rights above the O'Neill Tunnel.
“The property stands as a blank canvas of urban development potential, located in an area well-suited for residential, hotel, medical, office, lab, tech-oriented, retail, civic and cultural uses, or other creative development. The property holds the potential to not only close a missing link between South Station and surrounding neighborhoods, but also reopen and reactivate a major gateway to the city.” said MassDOT in a statement.
SouthGate Boston is currently used as the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) District 6 Highway Division headquarters and also houses a Veolia steam plant.
