Mayor Walsh Calls for Review of Neponset Wharf Proposal Amidst Community Concerns

Amidst an array of community concerns, from the height of the project to traffic issues, Mayor Walsh has released a statement asking the development team at City Point Capital to review their proposal for Neponset Wharf.  Residents of the Port Norfolk neighborbood have been vocal about their issues with the project since the proposal was submitted just over a year ago.  State Senator Nick Collins and State Rep. Dan Hunt have also come out on the side of the Dorchester community.

The development team at City Point Capital has attempted to allay the community concerns by amending their design and scaling back the project.  Orginally set to include a 25 room boutique hotel and 150 condos the hotel has been scrapped and the condo count reduced to 96.  The plan still includes a boat house, parking for 170 cars, and around 3,000 sf of retail space.  The plan also outlines new waterfront outdoor spaces, with over 50% of the site reserved as public use.
