Miami City Commissioners Set $1.5B Redevelopment for Referendum in November

On Thursday, Miami City Commissioners voted 4-1 in favor of a referendum to approve Miami Riverbridge, a planned $1.5B renovation of the Hyatt Regency and James L. Knight Center complex. The question will be placed on the November 8th ballot on whether the city should extend a long-term lease on the city-owned site at 400 Southwest 2nd Avenue for 99 years and allow the redevelopment.

Redevelopment of the Hyatt Regency in Miami will include the 3-tower complex comprised of 1,806 apartments (264 will be serviced), 615 hotel rooms, 190,000 sq ft of meeting space, 20,000 sq ft of co-working space, and 1,100 parking spots. The towers will be connected at the top by a sky bridge featuring an upscale restaurant and lounge.
