Midtown East Office Building Trades for $160M
A 24-story, commercial building, located at 655 Madison Avenue in Manhattan's Midtown East section, has just been sold for $160 million. The asset was purchased by Extell Development Company, from the previous owner, Williams Equities, in a deal brokered by Eastdil Secured.
Designed by Swanke Hayden Connell & Partners, the 233,323 square-foot structure was originally constructed in 1951. It primarily contains office space, with retail located on the ground and 2nd floors. Extell plans to build luxury housing at the site. It's not immediately clear, however, if the existing building would be converted for residential use or if it will be demolished in order to make room for a clean-slate project.
