Midtown High-Rise Development Wins Final Approval
A large development proposal for 495 Eleventh Avenue in Midtown has finally been approved by the NYC Mayor's Office. The dual-tower high-rise will be developed by , and have sqft for affordable housing, commercial office space, retail, a restaurant, a hotel, and an NYPD vehicle storage facility. In order to facilitate the project, the Economic Development Corporation for NYC (EDC NYC) applied for a zoning text amendment, zoning map amendment, and site selection and acquisition. Prior to the Mayor's stamp of approval, the project had to be reviewed by the Community Board, Borough President, City Planning Commission, and City Council. Now that zoning is taken care of, the general contractor can seek building permits, and get the ball rolling.
