150 West 48th Street Update 09/20/21

Midtown Hotel Nears Top Out

A new Hilton hotel at 150 West 48th Street in Midtown is quickly approaching its final height. General contractor, Omnibuild is currently adding the final floors of the 38-story tower, and the project is expected to top out any day now.

McSam Hotel Group is developing the hotel for Hilton Worldwide Holdings. The building will encompass 320,000 square feet, and contain 1,046 rooms. Upon completion, it will be the ninth-largest hotel in all of New York City.

The 330-foot tall tower was designed by architect, Gene Kaufman. At this point, most of the facade has been installed, save for the stories that have yet to be constructed. There is however a large amount of work to do on the tower's interior, which remains in an unfinished state.

150 West 48th Street sits directly across the street from Hard Rock Hotel; another sizable hotel that is simultaneously under construction. While these developments are unrelated, the sheer hustle and bustle of construction work entirely consumes this section of 48th street. Navigating the rerouted pedestrian sidewalk feels as if you're somehow trespassing through the middle of a single, cohesive job site. Construction of 150 West 48th is expected to complete in early 2022.
