Mixed-Use Development Proposed on the Site of South Miami Mall
MidTown Development submitted a proposal to redevelop The Shops at Sunset Place outdoor mall in South Miami. The property would be redeveloped into a mixed-use complex which would feature 1,513 residential units. In addition to the residential component, plans call for a 50,000-square foot theater, 60,000 square feet of office space, a 287-key hotel along with 2,418 parking spaces. The plans show that approximately 75 percent of the 150,000 square feet of commercial space would be restaurants and the remainder commercial space. The space on the 10-acre site would be contained in seven buildings ranging from 12 to 33 stories.
