Music-focused charter school proposes new Dorchester building


Conservatory Lab Charter School, a tuition-free charter school that provides a rigorous, music-rich education, proposes to construct a new 43,500-square-foot home for its' elementary and upper school programs at 395 Columbia Road in Dorchester's Uphams Corner. The building would feature music-specialized common resource spaces such as a media library, a visual arts studio and a collection of small, medium and large acoustically-tuned ensemble spaces. Conservatory Lab Charter School anticipates to start construction of its' proposed building in April 2018, with completion anticipated in August 2019. The school has filed plans for the proposed building with the Boston Planning & Development Agency (BPDA), who is now reviewing the proposal.
