New Residential Tower Proposed for Downtown Brooklyn
Brooklyn's rapidly rising Downtown area may have another big project in its midst. A new, story residential tower has just been proposed for 55 Willoughby Street. Developed by , the building would contain apartment units and total square feet. In addition to residential units, there would also be a small, square foot space for ground-floor retail. Designed by , the tower would stand feet tall and sit on a square foot plot. The property is currently occupied by a 3-story commercial building, containing several retail storefronts. Although demolition permits haven't been filed yet, this existing structure would have to be leveled completely in order to make way for the new tower. With no slowdown in sight for Downtown Brooklyn's development boom, project proposals like this are becoming more and more common as the neighborhood's growing skyline starts to resemble that of Manhattan.
