UChicago Medicine Cancer Care & Research Pavillion Update 11/08/24

New UC Cancer Center Named for Major Donor

The new University of Chicago Cancer Pavilion in Hyde Park will be named the Abbie Foundation Cancer Center, following a generous $75 million donation from the AbbVie Foundation to the $815 million project. The 575,000-square-foot, eight-story facility will stand 172 feet tall and is set to become Chicago's first freestanding cancer care center.

The center will feature 80 private patient rooms, each with space for family members, as well as 90 consultation and outpatient exam rooms. Additional amenities will include a rapid assessment/urgent care clinic, infusion therapy rooms, advanced cancer imaging equipment, a dedicated breast cancer center, clinical trial spaces, and a comprehensive center for prevention and treatment offering complementary therapies and well-being support. The facility will also provide approximately 135,000 square feet of shell space for future expansion.
