Permits Filed for 5-Story School Building on Staten Island

Building permits have just been filed for a 5-story, school building, at 45 Cleveland Place in Staten Island's Concord neighborhood.

Developed by the 

, and built on the former St. John Villa campus, the building will contain two separate, independently operated middle/high schools (I.S./HS) that will collectively provide 1,350 seats. In addition to classrooms, the building will feature a lobby, a cafeteria, a kitchen, and an indoor sports facility. Designed by , the structure will stand feet tall and total square feet.

Additional plans for the St. John Villa campus (to be constructed under separate permits) include a new, 764-seat, Gifted and Talented elementary and middle school (PS/I.S.), a 84,000-square-foot athletic field with bleacher seating for roughly 700 people, a 16,000-square-foot play yard consisting of a general playground and an early childhood center playground. Additional plans include a renovated historic chapel building (located at the center of the campus), a maintenance building, and a parking lot. Altogether, the three new schools will create 2,114 seats.
