Permits Filed for Large Upper East Side Tower

Permits have just been filed for a 22-story, mixed-use tower development at 1637 First Avenue in Manhattan's Yorkville neighborhood. Developed by , the structure would primarily contain residential units. These would consist of both regular units and affordable housing units. In addition to housing units, there are plans for commercial space as well. Designed by , the entire structure will total square feet, and stand feet tall. The tower will have 2-basement levels, ground-floor retail space, and a rear yard. A residential building that formerly occupied the site has been torn down to make way for the new development. Demolition permits have also been filed for a neighboring pair of buildings that would need to come down.
