Plans Now Under Review for New HITT HQ & Virginia Tech National Center for Smart Construction

Plans are now under review for an office/academic development on a 3.5-acre site located north of Haycock Road in Dranesville, bordered to the west by the WMATA West Falls Church Metrorail Station. Plans call for a 270,000-square foot collaborative office-educational facility which will include up to 230,000 square feet of office use and up to 40,000 square feet of institutional use and over 1 acre of open space. The office component will serve as the corporate headquarters for HITT Contracting; the institutional component will be comprised of laboratory space operated by Virginia Tech, to be known as the National Center for Smart Construction (the “NCSC”). The proposed building’s design is targeting net-zero-energy ready while producing the energy onsite. A central key design element is the approximately 117-foot tall photovoltaic array canopy on top of the building.
