Plans Under Review for 179 Units at Samuel J. Simmons NCBA Estates Expansion
Plans are under review for the expansion of the Samuel J. Simmons NCBA Estates. Located at 2801 14th St. NW along DC’s 14th Street Corridor, the expansion will add another 179 units for low-income senior citizens, including 36 “grand-family” units for grandparents raising grandchildren in the Columbia Heights neighborhood.
Currently, the Simmons Estates provides 175 residential units for senior citizens.
Dubbed the Carl F. West Estates, the 227,000 SF expansion calls for constructing a two-level underground parking garage. Plans also call for expanding building amenities. Residents will gain a host of new features, including a concierge, salon, lounge, wellness center, computer and business center, library, fitness and exercise space, activity rooms, outdoor patio, and playground.
