Plans Under Review for Redevelopment of Marketplace Center
Gazit Horizons has submitted plans for the redevelopment of the Marketplace Center in Faneuil Hall Marketplace. Plans call for 135,550 square feet of new office space and approximately 45,000 square feet of retail/public amenity space. The project, designed by CambridgeSeven, aims to reinvigorate this prominent site along the Greenway with new street activation, improved retail, programmable open spaces, and landscaped elements. The most significant element enabling this is the reconstruction and reimagining of the passage between the North Building and South Building, connecting the pedestrian experience between Quincy Market and South Market Building to the Harbor Islands Pavilion, a grand portal that seeks to create a landmark for the city akin to Rowes Wharf and TD Garden.
