Plans Under Review to Move Providence Bus Hub for Kennedy Plaza Development
Plans are under review to move the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) bus hub out of Kennedy Plaza in anticipation of the square's redevelopment. A new bus hub would be constructed at 148-180 Dorrance Street, across the street from the Garrahy Judicial Complex.
Providence Planning announced a $140,000,000 redevelopment project for Kennedy Plaza and Waterplace Park in downtown Providence involving the conversion of the transportation hub into a park system featuring a new ice skating rink, an interactive water feature, and rebuilt canal-walk system along Waterplace Park.
