Potential Redevelopment Revealed at Former Cabrini Green Complex
The Chicago Housing Authority revealed new master design options for the redevelopment of the site where the famous Cabrini Green projects once stood. Three different strategies were revealed for both the southern and northern sites that make up the complete development. Plans for the 30-acre southern site include the expansion of existing roadways, renovation of existing row-homes, and new construction of townhomes and multi-family buildings that would bring a total of up to 2,035 new residential units and 655 new parking spaces to the site. On the 17-acre northern site, plans include different options for low, mid and high-rise multi-family townhomes and buildings that would include up to 1.9 million square feet of new space, and up to 2,000 new residential units and 730 parking spaces.
