Renderings & Additional Plans Revealed for Next Phase of Lathrop Homes Redevelopment
New renderings and details have been released for Phase 1(c) of a mixed-income residential redevelopment located between Bucktown and Roscoe Village. Plans includes renovating 7 buildings and demolishing 3 to make way for a new structure at the historic Lathrop Homes, built in 1938 as one of the city’s first federally funded public housing projects. The project also involves restoring the powerhouse and rebuilding the smokestack for future development. Once complete, it will add 309 new residential units to the 488 apartments already renovated in earlier phases (2019 and 2023). The CHA approved funding for the project in March 2024. Residents will have access to 100 parking spaces, a landscaped courtyard, and other community amenities.
