Renderings Revealed for Redefine the Drive
Final renderings have been revealed as part of a phase 1 study for the redesign of Chicago's North DuSable Lake Shore Drive to improve the 7-mile corridor that sees as many as 170,000 cars each day. The IDOT and CDOT's proposed designs would address safety concerns, infrastructure deficiencies and improve access and circulation. Critics of the plan point to the lack of alternatives for bus priority lanes, but would add significantly more green space and improve access for pedestrians and cyclists. The estimated cost of the project is $3.7 billion. A timeline for Phase 2, refining the design to develop contract plans and land acquisition, has not yet been announced.
