Renovations Underway at Chesterbrook Shopping Center in McLean
Construction has begun on the renovation of the Chesterbrook Shopping Center in McLean.
A renovation of Chesterbrook was anticipated after Federal Realty Investment Trust took ownership of the 90,000-square-foot property on Old Dominion Drive in May of last year.
The construction includes an $8.5 million "facelift" for the shopping center.
The 1967 Safeway facade is a staple for the neighborhood, and for this longtime McLean resident, should be reanimated rather than replaced when the time comes.
The focus on modernizing the facades and introducing of outdoor amenities is in stark contrast to many developments in the area that have opted for mixed-use, high-density developments.
