Rezoning Approved for Hotel Development in Motor Row
A zoning change has been approved for a development at 2222 S. Michigan in Motor Row, owned by former Chicago Bears defensive end Israel Idonije. The change will allow for a 154-room boutique hotel with a speakeasy, rooftop pool, fitness center, restaurant, co-working space, and event space. Idonije had received City Council approval in 2022 for a mixed-use project, dubbed Hudson Motor Row, that included apartments, hotel rooms, retail, and event spaces, and the project was later awarded $10 million in tax increment financing (TIF). Now, an amended TIF agreement has been approved to reflect the updated plan. The project’s total estimated cost is $75.4 million.
