Sarasota Planning Commission Approves Sarasota Orchestra Music Center
By a unanimous 5-0 vote, Sarasota Orchestra received approval from the Sarasota County Planning Commission for an 1,800-seat main concert hall, 700-seat flexible recital hall space, office and educational space, room for a youth program, library and instrument storage. Plans also call for 195,000-square foot parking structure with 550 spaces. The development will be constructed on a 32-acre site off Fruitville Road, just west of I-75. Closing on the land, currently owned by Walmart, is expected in February 2023, pending county commission approval. The commission will review measure January 18, 2023. Design and construction is expected to take approximately five years.
