Seaport District Tower Development in Public Review
A controversial mixed-use development proposed for 250 Water Street in the Seaport Historic District has now entered public review. The 270-unit building is being developed by The Howard Hughes Corporation and would potentially come in the form of a 324-foot tower. The project was approved by the NYC Landmark Preservation Commission but still received heavy opposition from the local "Seaport Coalition". Manhattan's Borough President is currently in the process of reviewing the proposal, and if approved, it will then be passed along to the City Planning Commission.
