South Coast Improvement, Co. wins $18 million project at Atria-Merrimack Place

South Coast Improvement Company (SCI), a design-build general contractor serving New England and the Mid-Atlantic states, recently was awarded for a new construction/renovation project at Atria Merrimack Place senior living facility located at 85 Storey Ave, Newburyport, Massachusetts. The Marion, Mass.-based company began work on the $18 million project last month.

The new construction portion of the project consists of a 45,000-square-foot addition to create 45 apartments for the Life Guidance unit for Alzheimer’s and dementia patients. Part of the renovation will include the conversion of two Life Guidance rooms in the existing facility into assisted living rooms. All the new and renovated rooms will receive all new mechanical, electrical and plumbing—the new assisted living rooms will receive new millwork as part of the kitchen area.

The project will also consist of renovation and, in some cases, relocation of a number of common areas and other existing rooms. That list includes the library, bar, bistro, health club/physical therapy room, salon/spa, office space, and reception area.  All totaled,45,000 square feet of space will undergo renovation.

The project began in October 2018 and is slated for completion at the end of 2019.
