Star Market to Open 50,000 SF Grocery Store in 401 Park
Star Market has announced plans to move their Fenway supermarket into a 50,000 SF space at 401 Park. The grocery store chain will sell its location at 33 Kilmarnock St to Samuels & Associates, the developer of 401 Park.
“For many years, we have aspired to incorporate a new, full-service grocery store for the Fenway neighborhood,” said Peter Sougarides, a principal at Samuels & Associates. “We are delighted to partner with Star Market and create an opportunity for them to expand and evolve.”
“Star Market has been shining since 1915 and we continue to proudly serve our neighbors, friends and family in Greater Boston,” said Rob Backus, President of Shaw’s and Star Market. “The Fenway community can look forward to a brand-new, technology-enabled, state-of-the-art store, and we look forward to partnering with Samuels & Associates to make the project a reality.”
Alexandria Real Estate Equities purchased the development for $1.5 billion in February.
