State Approves Construction for New Boston Chinatown School
Construction on a new school at 249 Harrison Avenue in Chinatown has been approved by the State and is expected to begin next year, according to Boston Public Schools. The Josiah Quincy Upper School, outgrowing its original space, will be permanently housed at 249 Harrison Ave when construction finishes on the new facility.
The new six-story building will feature learning spaces for music, art, and science as well as a gymnasium, library, auditorium and cafeteria, and will also include an outdoor instructional space on the roof featuring photovoltaics and a school garden to promote active learning about the environment. Work on the new facility is expected to wrap up for the 2024/2025 school year.
